GARDA VETTING
Vetting is a Mandatory requirement for ALL coaches, administrators, Female Liaison Officers and all adults (over 16) who are working - in any capacity - with children aged under 18 years of age.
How to apply for Vetting in the Gaelic Games Association
Step 1 : Ensure that your 'Foireann' Account is active and all details are correct and up to date.
Log into your account on Foireann or create an account on Foireann
www.foireann.ie All members have a Foireann account, whether you realise it or not! If not yet activated, your Club's Child Protection Officer, Club Secretary or Club Registrar can activate it for you

Step 2 Download and Complete the National Vetting Bureau 1 form (NVB1)
You can download this from your Foireann account pre-filled or request a blank copy from the Club Children's Officer at

Do NOT sign this form until Step 3 is completed!
Step 3 Contact the Club's Children's Officer to arrange a Face to Face meeting

You will be required to attend with Proof of Identity and Proof of Address - the Club Children's Officer will confirm details of acceptable I.D. and proof of address documents (no older than 6 months old etc)
At this Face-to-Face meeting, your Club Children's Officer or other Club Validator will complete their mandatory checklist and, if in order, sign the Vetting Validation Form.
Applicant then takes a copy of both signed NVB1 and Validation Form - your Club Officer will keep the originals*
Step 4 Log in to Foireann,
Click PROFILE
Click QUALIFICATIONS & VETTING
Click APPLY FOR VETTING
You will be required to upload the NVB1 & Validation form (from Step 3) and the approved Proof of Identity Document and Proof of Address document. These MUST be the same documents as detailed in both NVB1 & Validation form
Note! Your Club Children's Officer will receive an email requesting them to approve your application.
SUGGESTION! If you complete Step 4 while still with the Club Children's Officer or other Club Validator, they can immediately approve your application
Step 5 Complete the NVB Vetting Application form.
The NVB will issue (to your email address as per your Foireann account) the NVB Vetting Application form within 2-3 days.
Please check your Spam/Trash if you do not receive it.
This form is Time constrained so please do not delay in completing it.
This form is a confidential matter between you and the NVB - Your Club has no part in this part of the process and no sight of any details provided.
Step 6 Await your Approval!
This part of the process varies (depending on your personal history) but is normally complete within 10 working days.
Once the individual is deemed suitable to work with children, the individual will receive a vetting acceptance letter. The Club Children’s Officer will also receive an email with a copy of the letter.
*These documents will be retained by Club Officer in a secure location for a max of 1 year before being shredded. This is a mandatory requirement of the process.
SAFEGUARDING
Completion of a Foundation Level Safeguarding Course is a legal requirement for all those working at any level with Juvenile members. You will receive a Certificate of Attendance which you MUST forwarded to the Club's Children's Officer

*While Safeguarding must be renewed every 3 years, you can renew online if you 'attend' within the 3 year period. Outside this 3 year period, you will be required to attend in person.

All Coaches (not Admins etc) must also attend a Foundation Level Coaching Course. Your Club's Children's Officer can advise of upcoming courses.
