Today 14th March 2021 is the 100th Anniversary of the Execution of Patrick Moran, after whom our Club is named.

Andy Gibbons has been a member of the Patrick Moran club for over 60 years and during that time he has ensured the memory of the Patriot Patrick Moran was always kept alive.
Today, on the 100th anniversary of Patrick's execution, Andy couldn’t personally visit Glasnevin (due to CoVID Restrictions) but a Club member collected a wreath from Andy and laid it at Patrick's grave this morning.

Patrick was executed by the British during the War of Independence.

As stated on the plaque at the Forgotten Ten's plot in Glasnevin (in reference to the refusal of the British to honour the result of the 1918 General Election and refusal to progress to at least Home Rule)

The Democratic Will and Consent ignored, A Small Nation Repudiated,
The War of Independence Ensued. Many died for the New Republic.

Ten Volunteers were hanged in Mountjoy Jail. Their bodies, denied to their families for burial, are taken now from prison clay to rest in dignity and honour. Ballylanders guards the grave of one, while nine sleep here in ground forever hallowed to Irish Men and Women everywhere.

In memory of Patrick Moran, born 1888 (Crossna, Roscommon) died 14 March 1921, Mountjoy Gaol
