Geraldines Patrick Moran Club is delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached with Foxrock Parish for the purchase of the Foxrock Parish Sports Fields in Cornelscourt.

The sale, which is subject to approval by a Special General Meeting of adult (voting) members, will ensure that the Field’s use is restricted to sporting, leisure and ancillary activities for our members and the other current users.

The five acre site was purchased in 1959 on behalf of Foxrock Parish from its own funds and has since been generously made available, free of charge, to local sporting clubs. The Geraldines have been users of the Grounds since that date. This deal also ensures continued access for the next 999 years for all other current users of the Cornelscourt grounds. All users will benefit from the much needed enhancements and improvements that will be delivered in the coming years.

Geraldines Chairperson, Ger Moffatt said “This is a very exciting day for our club and will allow us to develop facilities to meet our members needs and those of the wider community into the future. We are extremely grateful to Foxrock Parish and of course its outgoing Parish Priest Fr. Gerry Kane, for taking this community focussed decision. We also very much appreciate the support of the Dublin County Board, Leinster Council and the central team in Croke park for assisting us in completing this transaction”.

About the Geraldines: The Foxrock Geraldines was formed in 1886 and merged in the early 1970’s with the Patrick Moran Hurling club. The club has 850 members with an even split of male and female members. It has 30 teams in Camogie, Hurling and Football, including a recently formed All Stars team for children with additional needs. The club has members from all local areas including Cornelscourt, Foxrock, Cabinteely, Blackrock, Ballybrack, Deansgrange, Carrickmines, Cherrywood, Leopardstown and other surrounding areas. We welcome all children & adults, of all abilities, to our community focused Club.

Ends.

About Geraldines P. Moran

Geraldines P. Moran, known locally as ‘The Gers’ is a GAA Club based in Cornelscourt since 1886. The club’s teams primarily play out of two grounds, the Foxrock Parish Sports Ground on the Old Bray Road in Cornelscourt and the DLR GAA pitch in Ballyogan. Former Dublin Football player Johnny Magee is the Games Development Officer for the club and he supports a number of the local schools by providing his coaching services. The Gers has 30 teams, one of which is a Senior Adult Ladies Football team, which has achieved back-to-back promotions since being set-up in 2022. We have 3 Adult Men’s teams, including our Senior Adult Football team, who play in the Dublin Intermediate Championship. The club recently introduced a new All Stars team for children with additional needs. We have members living across the local area and wider South Dublin from Shankill to Stillorgan and taking in areas including Ballybrack, Blackrock, Cabinteely, Carrickmines, Cherrywood, Deansgrange, Foxrock, Leopardstown, Monkstown and Sandyford. The club is very proud of its history and ties within the local community and proud of the work it has done to promote Gaelic games in the area since 1886. Looking to the future, The Gers has many ambitions and plans.
